Saint-Wandrille-Rançon is a picturesque Normandy village in Seine-Maritime, part of the new commune of Rives-en-Seine. It nestles in the Fontenelle valley, offering a natural setting between forests (du Trait-Maulévrier), marshes and the Seine.
Its flagship feature is the Abbey of Saint-Wandrille de Fontenelle, founded in 649 by Saint Wandrille. It is one of the oldest Benedictine abbeys in Normandy, where a community of monks still lives according to the rule of Saint Benedict.
The abbey, which survived Vikings and wars, is known for its Gothic cloister and produces its own craft beer.
The village is also an excellent starting point for hikes offering beautiful views of the abbey and the valley.
