Deauville

outdoor games at the campsite in Normandy

Deauville is a Calvados seaside resort (Normandy), founded in 1859 at the instigation of the Duc de Morny. It is synonymous with luxury, elegance and prestige, and is often referred to as the «21st arrondissement of Paris».

It is world-famous for its Planches, a promenade along the beach lined with bathing cabins named after movie stars. The colorful parasols are one of its symbols.

The village is intimately linked to the equestrian world, with its Hippodrome (La Touques) and its yearling sales, as well as to cinema, hosting the annual American Film Festival.
Its architecture is characterized by sumptuous Anglo-Norman-style villas and the presence of an iconic Casino Barrière. It is separated from Trouville-sur-Mer by the Touques river.
